Engineering Team Leader – Remote

About the role

Remote is looking for an Engineering Team Leader to guide a small product team of 3‑5 engineers in building and shipping a best‑in‑class HR platform. The role blends hands‑on development with people management, all within a fully remote, asynchronous work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a cross‑functional team of backend and frontend engineers, spending about 30% of time on leadership activities.
• Participate actively in product development alongside the team.
• Lead hiring, onboarding, and career development for direct reports.
• Foster healthy team dynamics, provide continuous feedback, and coach engineers to grow.
• Redesign engineering delivery using autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
• Design, implement, and operationalize end‑to‑end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify).
• Build reusable workflow primitives and verification loops (tests, checks, evaluations, guardrails) to ensure security, reliability, and scalability.

Required profile

• Experience managing an engineering team of at least two people.
• Strong commitment to Remote’s core values and culture.
• Solid engineering fundamentals with a proven track record of shipping product features.

Required skills

• Backend development with Elixir/Phoenix or Ruby.
• Experience in functional programming.
