Construction Engineer – Technical Support for UNICEF Projects

About the role

The Construction Engineer will provide technical support for UNICEF's construction activities in Guinea‑Bissau, ensuring that projects are planned, procured and executed to meet programme needs and deliver results for children.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual construction workplan in coordination with UNICEF programmes and government partners.
• Develop design and technical documentation for construction interventions.
• Support the procurement process, including preparation of technical specifications.
• Monitor construction sites, oversee progress and ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Collaborate closely with programme and operations teams to align construction interventions with programmatic objectives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of relevant experience in project monitoring, site supervision or quality assurance at national or international level.
• Fluency in English or French; additional UN language or local language is a plus.
• Experience in fragile, humanitarian or development settings, especially in WASH or infrastructure rehabilitation.
