Chief of Mission – Expression of Interest

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking an experienced senior leader to serve as Chief of Mission (CoM) for its Country Office. Reporting to the Director General, the Regional Director and, where applicable, the UN Resident Coordinator, the CoM will provide overall policy, administrative, programme and financial direction to ensure effective implementation of IOM’s mandate in the country.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the country’s strategic programme in line with IOM’s global strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Oversee policy application, programme delivery, financial management and administrative support for the Country Office.
• Represent IOM in high‑level meetings with government, UN agencies, donors and other partners.
• Drive resource mobilisation through multilateral, bilateral and national donors.
• Ensure compliance with IOM’s Management and Accountability Framework and reporting requirements.

Required profile

• Current member of IOM’s Pathways Pool (internal or external).
• Proven senior leadership experience in managing large, multi‑disciplinary teams in an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong understanding of migration issues, UN development frameworks and donor coordination.
